Coco Beach Excursion for Yombo Vocational Training School for Students with Disabilities

Likely our most emotional and gratifying moment of our last few years, this moment will sit with us as a team for the rest of our lives as we took a group of disabled kids of varying backgrounds from VETA (Vocational Education and Training Authority).

The smiles on the faces of some of the students will forever be engraved within us but the stories that they shared were even stronger. Some of the students couldn’t help but be in awe as they drove past high-rise buildings for the very first time, but the days shocks didn’t stop just on the road to the Indian Ocean.

Once at Coco Beach the students couldn’t help but talk about how this was also a first-time experience for many of them as they come from land-locked places and some even not being able to because of their financial situations.

We spent the day on the beach, playing in the water, building sand houses, playing beach football and eating Cassava and Beef Skewers (Mihogo na Mishkaki) which are famous in Dar.
